I’ve put together a few of my watercolours of Greece. Windows and doors make a great focal point for paintings, especially when the geometric shapes of the frames and shutters can be broken up by foliage and bold shadows.
The bright quality of light in Greece sets off all the primary colours in your work and helps to make the finished pictures much more vibrant than the usual overcast English scene! The following paintings show the glorious colours of a Greek harbour.
In Greece there are, of course, also quiet spaces where simple shapes and dappled light can lead to more subtle combinations of colour and pattern.
