Paintings of baby scans – ultrasounds/ sonograms

Pregnancy is such an incredible time so why not celebrate your milestone 12 week or 20 week scan by commissioning a painting of your baby?Rebecca_Jelbert_ultrasound_paintings_2015The radiating light of a standard ultrasound creates images that are almost etherial. The more advanced 4D scans can portray unbelievably realistic facial features. Both scans are equally amazing in their own way, and both capture an important snap shot in time.

My teenage son still keeps the painting I did of his scan on his bedroom wall, his very first portrait. Unlike the delicate paper scans, these paintings are robust and stand the test of time.

The detailed dots, soft shades of grey, and distinctive back ground form of an ultrasound scan all go towards creating a unique, visually exciting piece of work. These acrylic paintings are created on modern deep square canvases that can be hung directly on the wall, without a frame.

Some clients even request more than one ultrasound paintings, one for the parents, and a copy for the grandparents or other family members. These pictures combine cutting edge technology with hand painted creativity, a truly unique memento of a very special time.
