This is me staring into the computer screen with blood shot eyes, searching frantically for hour on end for reviewers of interactive books! Actually, this is a jelly face with hard-boiled eggs for eyes, created by my youngest daughter. The end result is the same, though – not a pretty sight.
I have sent off review requests to about 20 people/ companies in all, some on-line review sites, a blog, a newspaper and a couple of computer related magazines. The one review I have, though, didn’t result from my having asked them, but I was so pleased to see it! I know that my books will not survive out there without publicity, and even though I’m not used to ‘putting myself out there’ in this way, it is necessary, and it is quite exciting!
At first, I was sending the minimal amount of information with my review requests, but after reading a few contact pages, I decided I needed to say more about myself and my book. I think it’s important to keep the information clear and precise, whilst trying to make your request stand out.
I’m really new to this and am still trying to find my way but this is the sort of information, along with a promo code and a telephone number, that I am sending out at the moment:

Additional information – I have been told by iBookstore Support that Apple has featured my book in their ‘New and Noteworthy’ section of the iBookstore in America, in ‘Children and Teens’. I am a professional illustrator, a painter, author and graphic designer. This is the first book in the ‘Tales by Torchlight’ series and is about a little girl called Evangelina May, and the secret world of her imagination. I have had one review so far, on Lisisoft.com, and was given 4.5 stars out of 5!
The contact pages on websites don’t allow you to add attachments, but if I can find an email address, I also send a couple of examples of my illustrations. If there is anyone out there in the same boat as me, good luck, and good searching…
